Megan Markle: Visits monument to sexually abused and murdered schoolgirl

The Megan Markl , the Prince Harry of Britain wife, tied a ribbon in makeshift memorial, erected in Cape Town, to where a student was killed last month in a move of solidarity towards women victims of violence.

A photo of Megan tying a yellow ribbon to the spot where Uyghine Maruiana was raped and murdered was posted today on Instagram, along with a short text that says she and Harry 'are watching the events from afar and are both eager to learn' more »during their trip to South Africa.
"The Duchess of Sussex has made private visits and meetings in the last two days to deepen her knowledge of the current situation and continue to defend the rights of women and girls," the statement said.
In addition, Megan reportedly talked to the mother of the murdered girl.

The shocking murder of the unlucky schoolgirl

Uyghine Maruiana was raped and murdered at a post office in Cape Town, a case that played a key role in sparking gender-based violence in South Africa, a country with one of the highest homicide rates.
About 3,000 women in South Africa were murdered in 2018, one every three hours, a figure five times higher than the world average, according to the World Health Organization.
Black women in South Africa, dressed in black, march outside parliament, the country's stock market and flood the streets, while thousands use the hashtag #AmINext to demand reforms.

An important trip for Prince Harry

Harry, Megan and their four-month-old son Archie landed in South Africa on Monday for their first overseas tour as a family.
Harry then traveled alone to Botswana and Angola. In Angola, in fact, Harry walked the road built on a former minefield, a spot his mother, Diana, had visited before her death in 1997.
Tomorrow, the prince will go to Malawi to return to South Africa, Megan and Archie.
